Ultra Feminine Fever
💟💟💟
All things soft and feminine are all the rage right now. And I am here for it. Not only are the lace ribbons and pastel pinks and blues absolutely adorable but for me it feels like so much more than that. I feel like presenting ultra feminine has always been something that people (specifically men) can "prey" on. Men are literally terrified of femininity. Think about it phrases like "you throw like a girl" sound fine in passing but the connotation behind it is literally just demeaning woman. Again, imagine this, a "man" will find any opportunity to avoid anything stereotypically feminine. A girly drink, a pink t-shirt, or simply sitting too close to a guy friend is something that can make a man physically uncomfortable. I don't mean that ALL men are like this but going to college in the south has shown me how many of them truly are. I think they are scared of these things because they are scared of being seen the way the world sees women. Because you rarely if ever see a woman physically afraid to watch sports, or wear a baseball hat and sweats. Subconsciously they think being seen getting a facial or a manicure will make them less of a man. (It is literally just taking care of yourself). So much of femininity or things considered 'feminine' have been devalued, mocked, and demonized. Used to put down woman and make them feel silly or stupid. Think about all the times in middle or high school you got made fun of for the pink fluffy pen you loved or the cute little stickers you put on your binder. Girls can't have anything. But boys can play on their same little video games with their friend well into their 30s and no one says a word. Women are forced to grow up and take on so much responsibility so quickly in life and leave behind all the childhood fluff behind. We relate femininity to makeup and fun frills, to girls whose only goals are love, beauty and popularity. You can wear you hot pink tulle layered dress and be a boss bitch CEO. Literally who is stopping you. Men have spent YEARS trying to tell us differently but now this new trend of all things girly girl coming into the mainstream trends, it is time that we show them differently.
