2025 Trend Predictions
Long time no talk y'all. Missed you. But 2024 was like... the worst year ever so I needed a good rest and reset but TRUST me, this is my year. If you listened to my podcast you know I am completely locked in this year. You will be seeing, reading, and hearing a lot more from me. But that is not the point today, let's get into some 2025 trend predictions.
Return of the Beauty Guru
I wholeheartedly believe that 2025 will be the return of the 2016 beauty guru era. Fully bringing back the "beauty community" on YouTube (which we will get into long form content comeback later). But I do think we are going to see a surge of people using makeup to express themselves again, whether that means the traditional full beat or a "clean girl" take people will be making makeup decisions that are based on what they like more than what's trending. I'm talking matching your graphic eyeliner to your jewelry type beat. We will fully dive back into people making makeup their entire personality again. And I for one am excited for that. Makeup is such a fun and easy way to have fun and the possibilities are endless.
Luxe Essentials
I also think the idea of elevated basics is going to be big this year. We have kind of seen this with a rise in brands like Daily Drills and Parke but I think the style of these brands are going to trickle to an affordable price point. We have seen this a little already this year with Target coming out with their mock neck sweatshirt that is almost identical to the classic Parke mock neck without all the branding. Another brand I think is executing the idea of "Luxe Essentials" super successfully is aerie. While they aren't technically the most affordable, they're much more accessible than a Daily Drills or Parke and they are always running sales. I saw some sneak peaks of their new spring collection on TikTok, and I can already tell it is going to be EVERYWHERE, and trust, I will buy it too.
Crown Jewels
Hair accessories are totally making a comeback this year. We saw ribbons and bows last year, but this year, it’s all about taking it up a notch. Think oversized scrunchies, cool zigzag headbands, and jeweled hair pins that add a little sparkle. Jewelry stacks are still in, but it’s really the whole vibe. From head to toe, that’ll make you stand out. Whether you’re adding a fun claw clip or pairing a headband to make your earrings stand out more, this is all about completing a look.
Micro Getaways
I think short weekend or local trips are gonna be big this year. Not only because of the horrendous economy but also the general overarching theme of connecting with your surroundings and unplugging. I can also see the concept of being a "tourist in your own city" becoming popular on socials, I will defiantly be participating in my post-grad city. Mini trips can create a refreshing break without the extensive planning and budget you need for a full blown vacation. This hand in hand with a boutique hotel or colorful unique airbnb experience in smaller towns. I feel like I have seen this blowing up in popularity as well recently.
Crafty Girl Comeback
You know I'm most excited about this one. Crafty girls are coming back this year. We saw it a bit on the tail end of last year with the junk journal/journaling trend picking up (see my post on junk journaling for more details on that hehe). This will continue into the new year with many more crafts joining the upsurge. Crocheting, jewelry making, pottery, etc. I am calling it now in writing, but we all know 2025 is the year of the hobby. With the pending potential TikTok ban, people are going to go back to tactical hobbies and crafts are the easiest thing to pick up. Scrapbooking will become big as well, everyone is going to want physical receipts of their online life since such a big app like TikTok has the possibility to be gone just like that.
The Extended Cut
Finally, another I think is going to be coming back, whether TikTok gets banned or not, is long for content. Whether that be YouTube or blog posts like this, I think the internet/social media space is going to be much kinder and more positive space this year. People are going to want to build deeper connections with their favorite internet personalities and watch more thoughtful content again. There was a phase where the hour long vlogs were all the rage on YouTube and I think that will be coming back this year with the addition of written content. This year will place an emphasis on quality over quantity and the viral space will slow down quite a bit.
And that's a wrap on my 2025 trend predictions! I’m so excited to see how these trends unfold throughout the year. From reconnecting with your surroundings to bringing back some of the best parts of the past (hello, beauty gurus), it feels like this year is all about embracing what makes us feel good and diving into deeper, more meaningful connections. I can't wait to see everyone getting crafty, exploring new places, and truly owning their personal style and creativity. It’s going to be such a vibe, and trust me, you won’t want to miss it. Let's make 2025 the year of doing what we love, and maybe even rediscovering a few forgotten passions along the way. Catch y’all next time!
