It is post-spring break season and I have got to get this off my chest. Is spring break really worth it? I have thought this since I started college. The feeling of having to come back to school full time after spring break for a month makes the actual week of spring break so unenjoyable for me. The dread that fills my chest and hits me at random points through the week that this break won't last like summer is literally like a truck. And on top of it, when you come back it is full on study grind finals season. How do people actually enjoy it? Seriously leave tips below because I don't even have a study heavy super hard major and I literally HATE spring break. I feel like professors feel the same way. All moral drops post spring break in a college town. I call it the Spreak Scaries.
Here are some of my tips to get over the Spreak Scaries this year:
1. Planning out the remainder of your semester when you get back
As soon as I get back from spring break and plan the following weeks. Here at UA we usually have about 5-6 weeks left after break so I go to my syllabi and write down every little quiz and assignment in my planner. Set reminders/alarms on my phone, the whole nine yards. I will be damned if I start to slack off right at the end. This keeps me on track to make a strong finish
2. Finishing work before play
On top of just being on a complete break from school, post spring break brings in the good weather. Especially here in the south. When you get back from spring break and the weather starts to warm up, days at the pool or out day drinking sound a lot more fun than going to classes or completing assignments. But keep your blinders on, at least until you finish your work for the week. I promise the bar will still be there when you are done with your paper.
3. Reward Yourself!
Although I have been preaching to keep your focus and finish out the school year strong, it is also important to reward yourself for your hard work! Whether it is a piece of candy for finishing a quiz or that new dress you have been eyeing for completing a final paper, you deserve it! College is hard and schooling is not for everyone so be proud of yourself for completing another semester and getting your education girl!
